WHEN WRESTLING FANS ATTACK!

How it started:

How it's going:

The top video shows a fan hitting the ring during a 1997 edition of WCW Monday Nitro. He is quickly dispatched by "the smallest referee in the world," the late Mark Curtis, a/k/a Brian C. Hildebrand from Mt. Troy Rd. in Reserve Township (just like me).

Knee to the head, guillotine choke, over. "The Shooter" was born.

It didn't go so well for WWE's Seth Rollins in the second video: He gets bowled over and taken down by a fan during the latest episode of WWE Monday Night Raw.

In wrestling's ancient days, this would have done Rollins' reputation irreparable damage. But everybody knows its fake now. There's no need to be legit tough. (Though Rollins did himself no favors by characterizing the attack as "terrifying." #Kayfabe)

Chavo Guerrero of wrestling's famed Guerrero family wasn't impressed. He tweeted:

Rollins probably did the right thing by not assaulting his attacker after they were separated. We live in a litigious society. WWE and Rollins have money. Here's betting that schmuck doesn't.

But "The Shooter" would have known what to do, and would have made it look easy. I miss Brian.
