TELL ME HOW TOMLIN DID A GREAT JOB

It’s being said that Mike Tomlin did a great job this season, and is a genius.

So, tell me how Tomlin did a great job.

What’s the evidence? Be specific.

The Steelers started slowly most games. They scored one first-half touchdown in their last seven games. They tied Detroit. They won once by a margin of more than one score. They mostly beat bad teams, and bad quarterbacks. They never beat a good team that played a good game.

So, tell me how Tomlin did a great job.

The empty platitudes are on full display. They’re all over ESPN.

“You can always count on Tomlin.” “Tomlin gets it.” “It’s a Tomlin team.”

There’s no substance to any of it. It’s just cheerleading.

So, tell me how Tomlin did a great job.

Perhaps it’s because the standard has dropped. Pittsburgh is overjoyed to see the Steelers eke out the AFC's No. 7 seed, which didn’t even exist before last season.

The Steelers don’t pass the eye test. They bleed out some results. But it’s bad, boring football.

Tomlin has never had a losing season. But after Sunday night, he’ll have just three playoff victories in 11 years. That's with a Hall-of-Fame quarterback.

If Tomlin made a bad roster overachieve, remember that he had the most influence in assembling that roster.

So, tell me how Tomlin did a great job.

The man can dance. I’ll give him that.
