HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO FIX THE STEELERS?

How long will it take to fix the Steelers?

How long will it take an organization that put together a roster this bad to undo damage wrought and magically assemble a team that makes the playoffs? That’s with Coach/de facto GM Mike Tomlin helming the rebuild after piloting all the mistakes made that led to 2-6.

It’s going to take more than a year. That’s assuming Tomlin is capable.

It’s not just about Kenny Pickett developing.

It’s not just about T.J. Watt getting healthy and staying healthy.

It’s about how fast the offensive line, defensive line and defensive backfield can be rebuilt. Because they all stink.

While the Steelers do that, Cam Heyward retires.

Watt’s body will likely continue to break down. Or will Watt want to move to a team that has a chance at a ring?

The offensive line has maybe one big-timer in James Daniels.

Besides Heyward, the defensive line is meh. He’s 33.

The defensive backfield has one legit talent in Minkah Fitzpatrick. Cam Sutton is an OK nickel, but he’s a free agent at season’s end.

Do you have your running back in Najee Harris? Because it sure doesn’t look like it.

The hole is deep. Acknowledge that.

Even if Pickett does make big strides, consider the other quarterbacks in the AFC North: Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson and Deshaun Watson.

Here’s a couple predictions you won’t like:

*Tomlin will go 10 seasons without winning a playoff game.

*Watt will never win a playoff game as a Steeler.Tomlin will go 10 seasons without a playoff win. Watt won't win a playoff game as a Steeler.
