In the era of the participation trophy, we shouldn’t be surprised that First Lady Jill Biden wants both the winner and loser of the NCAA women’s basketball final to visit the White House: "Iowa should come, too, because they played such a good game."
But LSU’s Angel Reese sees what’s going on. (LSU beat Iowa. Reese was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.)

Reese and Morris are both right on the money.
Inviting runner-up Iowa is weak. You win, you visit. You lose, you don’t. Winning is supposed to be important.
Biden’s gesture also smacks of making sure the hyped-up white girl (Iowa’s Caitlin Clark) gets included.
If Iowa gets invited, LSU should decline.
