BETTER LATE THAN NEVER

The Steelers’ running game kicked into gear over the last four games. That’s since rookie RT Broderick Jones got put into the starting lineup.

Rookie CB Joey Porter Jr. did well at covering star wideout Ja’Marr Chase when the Steelers won at Cincinnati Sunday. Chase got four catches, two on deflections.

The Steelers gained 421 yards at Cincinnati. The Steelers never got 400+ yards with Matt Canada as offensive coordinator. Canada got fired last week.

Jones and Porter should have been in the lineup for Week 1.

Canada should have been replaced in the offseason.

Don’t praise Mike Tomlin for making these decisions.

Blame him for not making them earlier.

Don’t tell me that what Jones and Porter absorbed during their respective Steelers tenures prior to starting prepared them for their current level of solid performance.

Talent is talent, not least at those two positions. They were ready from the get-go.
