A piece of Red Hot Chili Peppers history has been unearthed on a 42-year-old cassette found in a box. Guitarist Alain Johannes posted the first studio recording of his high school band Anthym, which featured Chili Peppers founding members Flea, Jack Irons and the late Hillel Slovak. Johannes posted the track "Paradox" on Instagram and wrote, "Found this cassette deep in a box [and] it has a bunch more. Can’t believe it still kinda plays... Ah we were young and innocent." Anthony Kiedis saw Anthym and later started the Peppers with Flea, Irons and Slovak. Anthym changed its name to What Is This, and both bands signed major label deals in 1984. Irons and Slovak left the Peppers and stuck with What Is This, and didn't rejoin the Peppers until 1986.
